I am feeling such a vast array of emotions right now. On one hand I feel privileged and honored that my baby Izzy waited for me to come home from work and for me to hold her in my arms while she breathed her last breaths and on the other hand to feel so totally awful that her last few moments seemed to be in such pain. I’ve never witnessed a death before and to hold Izzy in my arms and watch her die was both comforting and horrible. I am so glad that she is out of pain. It was killing me to watch her in her last days. But I felt so alone tonight while I was home without her sitting in my lap and purring. I will miss her so much…

Jonah made his entrance into the world at 5:41 am by c-section. He weighs 7 lbs. 14 oz. and is 22 inches long! He is beautiful and healthy. Mom and Dad are doing great!
A very special Happy Mother’s Day to Valerie…was an amazing gift!
Here is a picture of him. You can find more at Jason’s xanga.

Still no news about baby Jonah. They broke Valerie’s water around 7 pm our time. Haven’t heard anything since. I pray everything is going well. I’m trying to stay awake! I know the kids must be exhausted by now seeing that they got up around 4 am to get to the hospital and it is now after midnight their time. It’s cool to think that Jonah will be born on Mother’s Day!
Hopefully I will have some pictures tomorrow!

Valerie is in the hospital. They induced labor this morning at 5:30 am Florida time. Talked with Jason around 10 am our time this morning and not much progress had been made. Have heard nothing else since. Keep them in your prayers that she has a safe delivery and doesn’t have to have a c-section. We should be grandparents by the end of the day hopefully. Probably no pictures until tomorrow. I hate being so far away.
I can’t wait to see little Jonah David!!
In other news:
The Mitchell Choir parents gave Connie and I a wonderful reception after our concert Thursday night. They commissioned a necklace for us that says “Life Has Loveliness” on it. That is the name of the piece our honor choir commissioned for our TMEA performance. Then on top of giving us each that beautiful necklace, they gave each of us a $400 Mastercard to go on a shopping spree!!! I was totally blown away!Yesterday our choirs went to a choral festival and all four choirs received a Superior rating. 5th grade choir got Best in Class, 6th grade choir got Best in Class, our Boy’s Choir got Best in Class and our Honor Choir received Best in FESTIVAL. They beat out 61 other choirs…some of them were junior high choirs. We are so blessed to have such wonderfully talented children in our choirs. I am so very proud of them!!

My dear friend and mentor died Monday night. Ginny was not only my music education professor at college, but she was my dear friend. She taught me everything I know about teaching music to children. We share the same birthday and she would take me out to lunch every year…being a poor college student at the time meant very much to me! We continued to share lunch on our birthday for years. I guess the last time I saw her was a couple of years ago when a friend of mine and I went to see her. Her health was starting to fail then. Mentally she was already gone. She would remember us, but think we were all still in college. She was put in a nursing home and I never got up to see her once that happened. I feel really bad about that. I kept meaning to go…but you know how it is…I was told that she wouldn’t know I had been there, but I still know…
Her funeral is tomorrow and I am taking the afternoon off to go up there. She had a Women’s Choir that I sang in and several of us are going to sing at the funeral. -
Jacob had his senior voice recital today in Hunstville. David videoed it and will put it on a DVD for us. Hopefully we can put some of it on here? Not sure how to do that, but I did take a few pictures. I was busy keeping the food on the table so I didn’t get very many and I didn’t want to be a distraction while he was singing, so…there are only a few. He did such an amazing job. His voice has matured so much since he has been in college.

Valerie called tonight and said she was at the hospital. Having regular contractions but not dilating very much. The doctor has her walking the halls. I remember doing that! Haven’t heard anything since around 7 pm tonight. Hope all is well. I’ll keep you all informed as info comes my way…
EDIT: The doctor sent her home again. She was still having contractions but they weren’t doing anything. She wants this baby here!
