  • My dear friend and mentor died Monday night.  Ginny was not only my music education professor at college, but she was my dear friend.  She taught me everything I know about teaching music to children.  We share the same birthday and she would take me out to lunch every year…being a poor college student at the time meant very much to me!  We continued to share lunch on our birthday for years.  I guess the last time I saw her was a couple of years ago when a friend of mine and I went to see her.  Her health was starting to fail then.  Mentally she was already gone.  She would remember us, but think we were all still in college.  She was put in a nursing home and I never got up to see her once that happened.  I feel really bad about that. I kept meaning to go…but you know how it is…I was told that she wouldn’t know I had been there, but I still know…
Her funeral is tomorrow and I am taking the afternoon off to go up there.  She had a Women’s Choir that I sang in and several of us are going to sing at the funeral.

  • Seems like plenty of great memories right there. Though I doubt severely that her spirit is gazing down on you from heaven with dissapointment. I think her spirit is actually pretty heppy for you and about you, and even moreso praying for in her conversations with jesus.

I had a similar thing happen to me recently with a good friend’s mother. I hadn’t seen her since christmas and felt pretty bad tht I didn’t get to before she passed on. But, I think that even if our eyes and mouths don’t interact with a person, our spirits our infinitely more conscious and active in ways beyond our physical capacity. So who can say whether or not either of us ever saw the important person again before they passed on? Maybe the fact that we thought about them is proof of some kind of subtle spiritual exchange between us and them.

    =)
