Hi Cyndie, I know exactly what you mean. Even though my heart is broken for other reasons, I am trying hard to not let the sadness of saying goodbye to L get me feeling worse. This is supposed to be her time now and I’m sad to think she will be hours away worrying about me here alone.
Cyndie… thank you SO very much for all your sweet comforting words and prayers. It has helped L and me feel better knowing friends care. She reads all the comments. I can’t express how much your comments have made me feel serene. *hugs*
I’m also sorry you’re feeling sad about driving your boys to college. Are they nearby? Can they come home on weekends? That would be very nice. We’re going up for Parents Day/Homecoming the first weekend in October. Then she’ll be home for Thanksgiving for one week. A hug for you. I understand.
Oh,,,,sister,,, I am so very sorry!! My heart is crying with you. I can not imagine.
Having “been there, done that” I, too, know the feeling. I do believe, though, you have much to be thankful for and can pat yourself on the back with the realization that you and David did a super job of raising 3 fine Christian boys who will be great assets to society in whatever they do hopefully in the field of music ! Alas, our kids do grow up WAY too fast! In my case, there are still persistant problems especially with my younger son..but the good news is I’ve learned to finally let go and let God! That helps…even though we try to take things back!!
You’re in my prayers and I wish you well with your teaching endeavors in the fall. Glad you know you have a job to go to!
Having said all that, humor helps heal…so here is some humor. Enjoy!!!
Love, Prayers and Hugs,
Pat

SIGNS YOU’RE STILL NOT USED TO AN “EMPTY NEST”
You can’t use up a gallon of milk before it goes bad, but you still can’t bring yourself to buy the half-gallon size.
You called the power company and asked them to re-check your meters, because the utility bill has been so low lately.
You’re paying bills and suddenly realize you no longer need to include late video fees into your budget.
You’re shocked when your realize you can push the buttons on your car radio and actually KNOW what station you will get.
You’re surprised when you notice that you haven’t had to buy shampoo for weeks.
Each time you enter a new room, your eye still automatically scans for dirty clothes and leftover food or dirty dishes.
You ask your mechanic why the car is costing so little to run.
To your constant amazement, your cupboards actually stay full for more than two days. You think it’s a miracle and call your church.
You’re still hiding your best makeup.

Cyndie, I am doing the same thing. We are taking Brady to Abilene today and it feels really weird. I don’t think I’ll cry, but you never know. It will be the first time I have been without kids in my home for 27 years. And that’s a long time. There is a bright side though, grandkids are coming around and somehow that is almost more fun. NOT that I don’t or haven’t loved my kids, maybe it’s just being able to go back to before they knew EVERYTHING and were still curious and asking questions. Okay, I’ll end and we need to get out of here. It’s already going to be late when we get there. If you need to talk or get bored (because you don’t have enough laundry) just give me a call. Love, Becky
