  • We just got back from Huntsville where we saw middle J perform in the opera Gianni Schicchi.  He played the part of an older man named Betto.  It was very good and funny and he was awesome.  It was also very strange to look at our son up there who was dressed in a very loud striped suit and was stuffed with a pillow to make him look fat and his beard and hair were sprayed gray and they used liquid latex for his face to make wrinkles and make him look really old.  For the family that is reading this, he looked so much like Uncle Clifford, it was eerie..

His character also drank out of a small canteen and smoked.  They told us in the program that they were theatrical cigarettes and in no way were the real thing…it just looked weird seeing a cigarette in my baby’s hands and watching him pretend to smoke…

But WOW…what a voice…he was amazing.  I didn’t realize just how much his voice has grown and developed…he actually sounded like an opera singer…he projected so well and he acted wonderfully…he was really quite funny!  (For those of you not familiar with the opera, it is supposed to be funny!)

Anyway, it was amazing to watch him up there…looked like he was having such a good time.  And it was all in Italian and that part was phenomenal…how they all sounded like they had been speaking Italian for years…

    Great job, Jacob!
